Behind my lens, I capture Asma’s family as the day unfolds. Living in a refugee camp there is a stigma and false narrative. It is by no means a preferred place to live, but I have learned how grateful refugees can be to be given a refuge, a home away from their wartorn homeland. It is a delight to see the colorful décor in every room of Asma’s home, the children playing in and out of their tiny rooms, make shift walls with the light bouncing off of them and catching glimpses of the children in their beautiful dresses running by and playing familiar games. Eleanor Roosevelt's famous words come to my mind and always hold true “Life is what you make it, always has been and always will be”
